Surgeon Ethnicity and Asian Plastic Surgery

A cosmetic surgeon's ethnicity counts for next to nothing when it comes to evaluating expertise.

If it did, Chinese bartenders would be better at Asian plastic surgery than American super-specialists.

While many patients simply assume that an Asian doctor has a better feel for what an Asian patient wants and needs, there seems to be little correlation between surgical outcome and the doctor's racial background, especially if the doctor was trained mainly outside of Asia or is simply the offspring of immigrant parents.
